In June 5 – 10, 2005, AFIT led a delegation consisting of Taiwanese Islamic leaders, Imams and Muslim scholars to Jakarta, Indonesia to visit 16 organizations including 8 Islamic organizations, 3 Islamic academics, Taipei Economic and Trade Office Jakarta, the Bureau of Labor Affair, The Center for Indonesian Migrant Workers, Indonesian Red Cross Society and TAF (Indonesia). This project has reinforced the connection of the Islamic community in Taiwan with its counterpart in Indonesia.
In order to further future cooperation and enhance the domestic understanding towards Islam in Indonesia, "Taiwanese and Indonesian Islamic Leaders Exchange Project" was be held in October. Delegates from Nahdlatul Ulama, Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah, Yayasan Haji Karim Oei and Universitas Islam Negeri were invited to join this project.
